I love folding paper scraps into animals. Because my folded animals must stand on their own, the paper needs to be sturdy. Cover stock with a laid finish is my favorite.
One summer afternoon in my Little Rock, AR studio I looked through some of my paper animal sculptures. A cat sculpture folded from blue cover stock got my attention. The sculpture suggested itself to me as a collage element.
Using drawing paper, acrylics, and ink I painted a splashy, artistic environment for the Azure Cat. I glued the Azure Cat into its new environment. It was cute! I took the collage up one level with digital painting and knew it was complete. The Azure Cat always makes me smile.
